I tried it. Really, I did. However, the more I used it the more I hated it. Recently, Apple updated iTunes to add the ability to “Like” individual songs from your music library, which is a huge improvement over having to search for the song in Apple’s song catalog. The “last straw” for Ping was [...]
As someone who frigging loves music, I was (overly) excited by Apple’s Ping announcement, their foray into music social networking. With 160M registered credit cards all set to 1-click purchase, that’s an impressive base for starting a social networking site. Sure, most people won’t give a shit, but out of 160M people, even if only [...]
We talked about SimplifyMedia as an alternative to iTunes in the cloud during yesterday’s podcast and Dave asked me to update the thread with information about the application. So, I went to SimplifyMedia’s website and found this: After developing the technology behind Simplify Media for over 4 years, it is time for us to take [...]
As we predicted, Apple has rejected Greg Hughes’s WiFi Sync, a program that lets you sync your music between your iPhone/iPad and your computer using your WiFi network. According to AppleInsder, WiFi Sync, while requiring separate desktop software, will allow you to sync your iPhone/iPad over a wireless network. You can see a video here. My prediction is that this app gets rejected, so look for it on Cydia in the near future. This will be a must-have app.
So, Pink Floyd just gave EMI a beat-down in court. Apparently Pink Floyd’s contract with EMI states that EMI could not unbundle individual songs from their original album settings. Confusingly, given the record label’s deep care and concern for its artists, EMI has been making Pink Floyd songs available for individual purchase from places such [...]
Hey, remember iTunes LP? Yeah, I forgot all about it, too. At the time, and even today, it makes no sense and when we discussed it six months ago on the podcast, I said as much. Why the hell would Apple do this? Well, Paul Bonanos over at GigaOM has revisited the iTunes LP and, [...]
