About
MyAppleAnd.Me is written, produced and maintained by Dave Metzener and Steve Hargrove.
FTC Disclosure: Some of the links on this site may be affiliate links. Most are not. However, if you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may get a percentage of that purchase. We try to note this in any review because we want you to know and balance this against the overall review. We never take a product with the understanding that we’ll give a positive review. Our reviews are honest, straightforward and from-the-gut. Our policy, in a nutshell, is honesty > swag. We’re not in this for the money or free stuff. Never have been and never will be. We’re doing it because it’s fun and we hope it’s fun for you, too. When we first started the site, we had a lot of advertisements and affiliate links. We removed all of it because (1) it detracts from the reading experience, (2) it’s annoying to maintain, and (3) it adds no real value. But, the Government says we have to let you know that if you click a link and make a purchase, we might get a few pennies. So there you go. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Bios:
Dave Metzener:
A software developer for over 25 years, now a Quality Assurance Engineer. I have spent most of my life working with computers. From the Apple ][ back in 1979 to several Mac’s (original 128K, G4 tower, MacBook, and Mac Pro), to Windows based systems (Windows 3.1 to Windows XP), with stops on the Amiga 500 and Atari 400/800.
I’m currently teaching myself OS X Cocoa programming as well as looking into the iPhone as a development platform.
Steve Hargrove:
I’ve been in the IT industry since 1986, working as a programmer, system administrator and network security analyst. I passed the GCFA certification in 09/2009 and am currently studying for the CISSP. During the course of a day, I interact with Linux, Windows XP/7 and Server 2000-2008, and OS X. The 15″ MacBook Pro is my weapon of choice. I also have a law degree but, while I’m certified to practice in Texas, am no longer actively doing so (hi Dad!).
I’m currently tinkering with Coco, Objective C and Apple Script. Also: waiting for my Time Machine backup to finish. Go me!
In addition to my website, you can find me on Twitter and Tumblr which are, sadly, often a mirror of the other. Follow me on one and ignore the other. Seriously. I do.
Site Info:
The server runs Wordpress with more plugins than we care to mention. If you want to know, email one of us and we’ll send you the list. We run a semi-customized version of the i3theme theme.
Web Standards
We care about and adhere to web standards. MyAppleAnd.Me’s HTML should validate as HTML5, its layout is valid CSS and it’s RSS is valid as well.
Given all of this, if you experience issues viewing the site, contact Dave or Steve. Please understand, if you’re using Internet Explorer, we’re not going to be very concerned. Upgrade to a decent, standards-compliant browser, then let us know if you still experience issues.
