What’s the alternative…

OK, Steve posted on Spirit of 9 that Google is getting creepy with all it’s data gathering.

My question is what do we have in the way of alternatives to searching the web? Sure there’s Bing, but I have to believe that Microsoft is doing the same thing. Yahoo is also powered by Bing. Is there a decent alternative?

There is DuckDuckGo, but I don’t really know how good it is. Does anyone know of any other alternatives?

    I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for a couple of months.  It’s a little slower and doesn’t find everything that Google finds, but it’s mostly good enough for what I need.  I linked to other alternatives in this post: http://spiritofnine.com/posts/2012/01/12/the-google-fallout-begins/.  

    Replacing Google for search will be tough because it’s best-of-class.  Eventually there’ll be a strong competitor but that’s not going to happen tomorrow.  I’m hoping to have some time to review other search engines in the near future.
