HardMac.com claims to have pictures of a new case for the iPod touch 4 that happens to have an iPod touch 4 in it. The picture shows the same design for the iPod touch 4 as that of the current iPod touch.
This doesn’t really make sense. It would make more sense to have the new iPod touch follow the same design as the new iPhone 4. Especially if they are also going to put a front-facing camera in the iPod touch so that it too can participate in Apple’s biggest new thing: FaceTime.
To be fair, Apple hasn’t changed the design of the iPod touch since it’s initial release. So there is a possibility that the device will remain the same with the exception of having a camera and flash on the back side.
Also, if you look at the back image of the above picture, you will notice that there isn’t a plastic section so that the WiFi antenna can see the outside world. There is no way that the WiFi antenna is the entire back of this new iPod touch. Antenna’s have to be a specific length in order to receive/transmit the frequency they are looking for correctly. This is why FM and AM antenna’a are different shapes and lengths.
Also, notice that the sleep/wake switch on top is on the same side of the device as the iPhone. There is no reason Apple would change the side of the iPod touch that the sleep/wake switch resides on.
So, this image looks to me to simply be a photoshop job and not a real picture of the probable new iPod touch 4.
