Magic Trackpad turns out to be real

Apple's Magic Trackpad

For a few weeks now, we have been seeing pictues what appeared to be a new trackpad like product from Apple. Well, along with new iMac’s, Apple has released a new trackpad product called… wait for it… Magic Trackpad. (What is it with Apple and the word magic these days…)

Magic Trackpad sells for $69 and is a full sized wireless trackpad that has the same hight and angle as their wired/wireless keyboards. This new device gives Mac Pro and iMac users the same functionality that MacBook Pro users have had ever since Apple updated the MacBook Pro line to Aluminum.

It will support the same multi-touch that MacBook Pro’s have had and the trackpad surface is the same glass that is used in the MacBook Pro’s.

They also released a battery charger that comes with 6 batteries for $29. Now, before you go complaining that Apple is over charging for this, I checked and the $29 is a good price for a battery charger with 6 batteries.

I’m actually considering getting this charger since my Magic Mouse eats AA batteries like they are candy.

As far as the Magic Trackpad goes. I’m probably going to be passing on it. It might be really nice, but I don’t see myself switching from mouse to trackpad anytime soon. It’s pretty hard to move files with a trackpad if you run out of trackpad when dragging. Maybe there is a trick to this that I am not aware of, but I’m still really happy with my Magic Mouse. It gives me a lot of the functionality of a trackpad as well as the convenience of a regular mouse.
